The Hinton Chamber was approached by Big Horn Mining to help generate
community support for its Phase II proposal, which was in jeopardy of being designated for
further assessment by the federal government. The Chamber wrote a letter of support and also
created templates and background information in support of member businesses submitting
their own letters. More than 40 letters of support were received by the Impact Assessment
Agency, and the advocacy effort helped convince the minister and the agency not to designate
the proposal for further federal assessment.
