“A little about you”
I was born and raised in Hinton, and my family has run small businesses off and on in Hinton over the years. I worked as a Travel Agent for 21 years before I took a leap of faith and became an entrepreneur. This is when I became the owner of The Old Grind. I received a lot of support from my family and friends and enjoyed the journey for 14 years. Now I help my daughter with her business on the weekends when possible.
“What led you to the Chamber?”
I first got involved as a Director with the Chamber board back in 2003 when I became the owner of The Old Grind, and then again in 2013.It was really important to me to be part of a business community and get involved. I really enjoyed working with fellow business owners and doing what I could to strengthen the spirit of the business community. I later put my name forward for the position of Executive Director, and have been here now for 6 years.
“Why is being a board member important to you?”
I believe you need to get involved with what you are passionate about. I have had the opportunity to be an entrepreneur and to work with some great mentors in our community. It’s great to have the opportunity to give back.
