The Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Jason Paterson, Executive Director of Community Futures West Yellowhead and Louise Gale, new Business and Industry Liaison, with Alberta Employment and Immigration.
Community Futures West Yellowhead provides business training, business planning assistance and counsel for the start up or expansion of your small business or small business idea. We offer financing programs to assist small and medium enterprises. Our mandate is to increase entrepreneurship in the West Yellowhead region.
Alberta Employment and Immigration (AE&I) Business and Industry staff liaise with business and industry sectors to share and increase access to AE&I’s information, programs, services, and potential funding sources; gather information and understanding of attracting, developing, informing and retaining employees; and work in cooperation with business and industry to develop strategies to address workforce requirements. In keeping abreast of the most current business, industry and employer workforce development issues and challenges, AE&I is able to collaborate on, develop and support the business community. There is a network of Business and Liaison staff across the Province providing services through the Alberta Works Offices.
During a meeting to determine how our three organizations could work together, we discussed how far our community has come in the last hundred years and wondered what the next hundred will bring. Prime Minister, Steven Harper, declared 2011, the Year of the Entrepreneur.
Are we doing all we can to encourage new business in Hinton? Have we identified business opportunities that exist in our community? Do we effectively promote Hinton outside of our community?
To that end we have come up with a very simple questionnaire that we would encourage you to complete. You are welcome to remain anonymous, but if you submit your name and contact information, you will be entered into a draw for a $250.00 Shop Hinton Certificate. The draw will take place on October 31, 2011.
